The program also has been NBC Champs in 2003 and 2007. Also, NBC-Co Champs in 2006. In 2004, the team made it to the final four in the state of Ohio.
Financial troubles
With an eighth straight operating levy failure in 2008, the Northwest Local School district has been placed by the state of Ohio into a Fiscal Caution. The failure of the operating levy in February and May 2009 have most likely forced the district into Fiscal Emergency to eliminate all extracurricular activities by the 2011-2012 school year. The district has sent a letter to the Northeastern Buckeye Conference asking for a Title IX withdrawal. Northwest will have extracurricular activities for the remaining two years. It is believed that Northwest is over one million dollars in the red and will most likely be run by the state of Ohio during the 2009-2010 school year. On May 4, 2010, Northwest passed a 1% earned income tax, the first levy passed since 1992.
