August 21 ,1926 New York City ,USA diedNovember 19 ,1983 New York City ) was an American lyricist for Broadway,movies , and popular songs.Leigh graduated from
Queens College andNew York University (both New York) and worked as a copy writer for radio stations and advertising agencies. The last musical was derived from an original idea of Leigh's, thoughMax Shulman wrote the script.She provided lyrics for the scores for the films "
The Cardinal " (1963) and "Father Goose" (1964).In the 1950s and 1960s, Leigh and Coleman also collaborated on writing "smart" pop songs such as "Witchcraft" and "The Best is Yet to Come."
She was inducted into the
