Lisa Bentley (born
November 28 ,1968 ) is a Canadian elite athlete in the sport ofTriathlon . She has been competing on the Ironman race series since late in the 1990s.She ranks among the likes of
Natascha Badmann andPaula Newby-Fraser as once of the most successful triathletes of all time. This is despite her never having won an ironman world championship in KonaHawaii . In 2005 she began the race with a ruptured appendix but had to withdraw during the run when the pain became unbearable. In 2006 she placed third at the world championships, a best ever showing.She is known as an excellent runner and often comes from behind off the bike to win. Diagnosed in her 20's with
