Sally Thompkins

Sally Thompkins

Sally Thompkins ran a Richmond, Virginia infirmary for wounded Confederate soldiers in the US Civil War, and was awarded the rank of captain by Confederate President Jefferson Davis.She ran the hospital with Jane Adams and other women. She saved over 74 lives.She died on July 26,1916 in her 83rd year of life. She was honored with a full military funeral.
