Michael Anthony Mercer, Jr. (born September 29, 1986) is an American basketball player. He is currently in the process of transferring to the University of South Florida. Born in Anaheim, California, Mercer grew up in Snellville, Georgia, where he was a teammate of Louis Williams at South Gwinnett High School. Both Mercer and Williams committed to play at Georgia in 2004, but Williams opted for the 2005 NBA Draft, ending up as the Philadelphia 76ers' second round pick. Mercer went on the play for the Georgia Bulldogs as one of the top Southeastern Conference (SEC) freshmen in 2005/06.

Collegiate career

Torn Knee Ligament

On February 10, 2007, Mercer tore a knee ligament during a road game against the South Carolina Gamecocks and missed the last ten games of the season. He underwent surgery on March 16, 2007, for his injury and was expected to be ready for the 2007-2008 season. Kicked off Georgia Basketball Team

Transfer to University of South Florida

It has been announced that Mercer will continue his collegiate basketball career at the University of South Florida.
