"Semantics" was a 1983 EP by iconiccite web |url=http://www.ariaawards.com.au/history-by-year.php?year=1996 |publisher=ARIA |title="1996: 10th Annual ARIA Awards" |accessdate=2008-03-10 ] Australian surf rock band Australian Crawl. The album marked a change in the line up of the band as Bill McDonough (drums) was replaced first by Graham Bidstrup (ex-The Angels, The Party Boys with Crawl member James Reyne) to record the EP. The more permanent replacement, after the EP, was John Watson (Kevin Borich Express).cite book |title=Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop |url=http://www.informationbrasil.com.br/diversao/musica/biografias/AUSTRALIAN%20CRAWL.doc |format=doc |last=McFarlane |first=Ian |authorlink= Ian McFarlane |publisher=Allen & Unwin |year=1999 |isbn=1-86448-768-2 |accessdate=2008-03-11]

The EP contains their best known song and only #1 single, "Reckless (Don't Be So)" ["Australian Chart Book 1970-1992" David Kent (ISBN 0-646-11917-6) ] (aka "She Don't Like That") which was written by lead singer Reyne.cite web |url=http://www.apra.com.au/site/public/searchworksresult.stm |title=APRA |publisher=APRA |accessdate=2008-03-10 ] Listeners of Triple M voted "Reckless" the 39th best song of all time in 2007, it was the highest placed Australian Crawl song.cite web |url=http://www.triplem.com.au/melbourne/music/2007countdown/the_countdown.html |title=Triple M's Essential 2007 Countdown |publisher=Triple M |accessdate=2008-03-10 ]

In the United States and Europe "Semantics" was released in 1984 by Geffen Records as an expanded version LP featuring the EP's four original tracks plus re-recorded versions of six earlier Australian Crawl songs. The original EP was also re-released as a CD-EP in 1996.cite web |url=http://www.zmms.tu-berlin.de/~axhu/AustralianCrawl |title=Zentrum Mensch-Maschine-Systeme |publisher=Axel Husfeldt |date=1999-07-09 |accessdate=2008-03-10 ]

Australian Crawl performed "Reckless" as one of their three songs for the "Oz for Africa" concert (1985). This was the Australian leg of the global "Live Aid" show organised by Midge Ure and Bob Geldof. The "Oz for Africa" concert was broadcast on MTV, but only performances by Australian band INXS were placed on the 20th Anniversary DVD collection. During his solo career, Reyne recorded a different version of "Reckless" for "Electric Digger Dandy" (aka "Any Day Above Ground") in 1991. He still performs the song during live concerts.
