footnotes =Ostravice ( _pl. Ostrawica, _de. Ostrawitza) is a river in
Moravian-Silesian Region ,Czech Republic . It originates in theMoravian-Silesian Beskids and then flows throughOstravice ,Frýdlant nad Ostravicí ,Frýdek-Místek and Paskov toOstrava where it enters the Oder as its right tributary. It partly forms the border between historical regionsMoravia (left bank) andSilesia (more preciselyCieszyn Silesia ) (right bank). The river starts as the Ostravice after the confluence of the Bílá Ostravice (i.e., White Ostravice, considered its main source) and the Černá Ostravice (i.e. Black Ostravice). They are both streams flowing through deeply forested valleys which are important access roads to the resorts of Bílá and Bílý Kříž. Ostravice then creates
Šance Dam , a fresh water reservoir for the industrial region aroundOstrava finished in 1970. It has an area of Unit area|sqkm|335|0 and a Unit height|m|65|0 high and Unit height|m|342|0 long rockfill dam.The Ostravice then flows through the rolling hills region between
Ostravice andFrýdek-Místek and finally through the lowlands of the highly industrial Ostrava basin.References
