Early life
Bardock attended Woodcote High School in Coulsdon, Surrey, where he was a keen drummer, and was a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain before training at the Guildhall School of drama
Career
Bardock first came to notice for his role as D.C. Clive Barnard in the British television series A Touch of Frost, alongside Sir David Jason's Detective Inspector William "Jack" Frost. Matt's character Barnard was the nephew of the Chief Constable. While many believe he had only got into CID through his family connections, Frost sees beyond that and takes Barnard under his wing. He was later promoted to Detective Sergeant, but was killed off in the 1997 episode "No Other Love."
In July and August 2000 Bardock played the role of Danny Weir in the short-lived TV comedy Pay and Display alongside James Bolam.
Bardock has also appeared as murder suspect Scott Burnett in The Bill, his character was developed and he began a relationship with P.C Honey Harman and later married her though the marriage was short lived after it was discovered that he had murdered his first wife. His character later died in prison having hanged himself (2004),
Prime Suspect 2 (1992), Sixty-Six as the sadistic pornographer, Jason Reynolds, the Channel 4 series No Angels — in which he played registrar Peter Compton — and had a small part in ITV's Midsomer Murders. In May 2005 Bardock played Detective Inspector Tom Wilson in Episode 3 Series 2 of New Tricks, on BBC1.
In 2007, Matt joined the BBC television series Casualty as paramedic Jeff Collier — the character left the programme in May 2007, but returned in September. However, this was not Matt's first appearance in Casualty - in 1993, he played a leading gang member in the controversial episode "Boiling Point", where he helped burn down the original hospital.
Matt also has stage experience, having been in the original production of 'Mojo' by Jez Butterworth at the Royal Court Theatre in 1995.
In 2008 Bardock turned on the Christmas lights in Newbury, Berkshire. He flicked the switch at 5:00pm on Friday 28 November in The Market Place.[1]
