This is the village's name due to the break in the forest in Saxon Times where the village now exists.

London Waterloo toPortsmouth line. Its best known building is probably King Edward's School, Witley and was also the location for Cooper & Sons Ltd walking stick factory which has now been replaced by houses and a light industrial estate. Wormley has aPost office . This is the only shop in the village. The Institute of Oceanographic Sciences Deacon Laboratory was in Wormley.
