History

* 1889 - Momoi village is created in Nishigunma District
* 1896 - Nishigunma District is combined with Kataoka District to create the Gunma District
* 1949 - Kitagunma District divides from Gunma District
* 1957 - Sōma village is merged with Momoi village
* 1959 - Momoi village is renamed Shintō village
