Sir Charles Frederick

Sir Charles Frederick KB (21 December 1709 – 18 December 1785) was a British Member of Parliament.

He was a younger son of Sir Thomas Frederick, sometime Governor of Fort St David, and a younger brother of Sir John Frederick, 4th Baronet.

He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in May 1833.[1] Frederick was Member of Parliament for New Shoreham from 1741 to 1754 and for Queenborough from 1754 to 1784. He was Father of the House from June 1784. Sir Charles Frederick also served as Clerk of the Deliveries and then Surveyor General at the Board of Ordnance, and was made a Knight Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1761.

On 18 August 1746 he married Lucy, daughter of the first Viscount Falmouth, by whom he had issue. His great-grandson Charles Edward later succeeded to the family title as seventh Baronet.
