Tokyo, JapanYears active 1986-present Ikue Ōtani (大谷 育江 Ōtani Ikue , born August 18, 1965) is a Japanese actress and voice actress from Tokyo, most famous as the voice of Pikachu in the Pokémon anime series and products and the voice of Tony Tony Chopper in the manga and anime series One Piece. She is currently attached to Mausu Promotion. Her pet name is "Iku-chan".
She is known for playing both male and female roles, and sometimes plays multiple roles in one production.

Pregnancy leave
In January 2006, Ōtani took a temporarily leave of absence from her work due to her pregnancy.[1] The following voice actress took over her ongoing roles during her absence.
- Tomoe Hanba (Manene in Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation)
- There were enough archive recordings so that no one had to take over as Pikachu, arguably her most famous role, while she was on leave.
