Gayle Slossberg is an American politician. Slossberg, a Democrat, has been a state senator from Connecticut since 2005.

Slossberg, a resident of Milford, represents the western suburbs of New Haven in the Connecticut Senate, including the towns of Milford, Orange, and West Haven.

Slossberg was born and raised in Massachusetts, and graduated from Cornell University in 1987 and earned a law degree from New York University School of Law in 1990. Practiced law in New York with the firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton before moving to Milford, Connecticut.

Slossberg served on the Board of Directors of the Milford Visiting Nurses Association, is a past president of the Mathewson Elementary School PTA, and is a member of the Endowment Committee for Bridges. Prior to being elected to the Senate, Slossberg served as a Milford Alderman and was the Democratic minority leader from 2001 to 2004. In 2004 she elected to Connecticut State Senate by ousting six-term incumbent Republican Win Smith by about 1600 votes. A bizarre incident occurred late in the campaign regarding allegations Slossberg lawn signs were dumped at a local synagogue. [http://www.wtnh.com/Global/story.asp?S=2502731] . 2005/06 Legislative Sessions: Co-Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee: Spearheaded veterans’ benefits package which included a Military Family Relief Fund, to provide financial assistance to family members of people serving in both the US Armed Forces and the CT National Guard; created Depleted Uranium Task Force, to study the effects of toxic substances on soldiers who fought in the Middle East.

In 2006 she won re-election against Barbara Lisman, the widow of a former Milford Mayor.

In 2007 Slossberg proposed that Connecticut adopt same day voter registration. On December 11, 2007 Slossberg proposed ethics reforms for the state senate in the wake of the CSU bonding scandal centered on fellow Democratic senator Thomas Gaffey.

[2] In January 2008 Slossberg opposed Governor M. Jodi Rell's proposal to pass a Three Strikes Law mandating life prison terms for career violent criminals. Rell had sought this reform in the wake of the 2007 Cheshire home invasion

Slossberg will face Republican challenger and Orange, Connecticut town attorney Vincent Marino in the 2008 election on November 4.
