Elvin Ernesto Santos

Elvin Ernesto Santos Ordóñez (b. Tegucigalpa, 18 January 1963) is, since 27 January 2006, the vice president of Honduras.

Elvin Santos is the child of the engineer Elvin Santos Lozano y SoniaOrdóñez de Santos.http://www.sre.hn/tmp2006/cv_honduras_vicepresidente_santos.pdf] Santos studied Civil Engineering at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He also served as Honduran Consul in Austin texas.

He is married to Becky Manzanaresde Santos and has four children Elvin, Rebeca, Adrian yNatalia. He has only recently entered the political arena. He is the CEO of the Construction company owned by his family, Santos y Compañia, which employs aproximately 1200 people. This company has various contracts with the Secretaría de Obras Públicas Transporte y Vivienda (SOPTRAVI), for the maintenance of public infrastructure as well as for the construction of the ring-road in Tegucigalpa. This situation has lead to accusations of conflict of interest.

Santos has been a member of the Private Enterprise Council, Honduras(Consejo Hondureño de la Empresa Privada-- [http://www.cohep.com Cohep] ), a powerful business sector interest group.

Elvin Santos as of August 2008 is running for the Presidential nomination of his party, Partido Liberal de Honduras, against Roberto Michelleti, actual President of the Honduran Congress. Within the Liberal party this nomination will mark the 2nd time the younger generation is taking charge. The first was the nomination and election of Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales to the Presidency of Honduras

Social life
