Hu Ge (zh-cp|胡歌|hú gē) was born on 20 September 1982 in Shanghai, China. He is a Chinese film actor and pop singer best known for his portrayal of Li Xiaoyao in "Chinese Paladin".

Early life

Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Hu Ge is the only child in his family. He studied Acting in the Shanghai Theater Academy and graduated in July 2005. As with other artistes, Hu Ge was already on the screen way before he graduated.

Acting

His first real acting gig was in 2003 in the TV series "Dandelion", but he really skyrocketed into fame after playing the role of Li Xiao Yao in "Chinese Paladin" in 2004. "Chinese Paladin" was a series based on the popular role-playing game with the same name. It is also known to some as "The Legend of the Sword and Fairy." He was invited to sing two of the recording songs in this soundtrack - June Shower ( _zh. 六月的雨) & Xiao Yao Sigh( _zh. 逍遥叹) and hence entered the music arena.

Soon after his role in "Chinese Paladin", Hu Ge embarked on a series of projects, the majority of which were in the ancient wuxia genre . Not only has he acted in many dramas, but he has also been in a few films such as, 疑神疑鬼/Yi Shen Yi Gui/"The Ghost Inside", 假裝沒感觉, and "The 601st Phone Call" ( _zh. 第601个电话). In the fall of 2008, he will be collaborating as the second lead in "Butterfly Lovers" with Taiwanese boy-band member, Wu Chun and Hong Kong singer Charlene Choi.

Accident

On the 29 August 2006 at 10:50 pm, while travelling from Hengdian to Shanghai on the highway, Hu Ge became involved in an accident which he survived while his assistant died. He had to undergo surgery, and the entire healing process took approximately one year. Due to his injury, the filming of "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", which he was working on during the time of his accident, was temporarily halted correspondingly. Due to its long delay, fans have been long anticipating this series. Many fans are also excited to see Hu Ge acting opposite of Ariel Lin, his co-star in an earlier project, "Fairy in Wonderland".

Music

Hu Ge has sung many songs for the soundtracks of his dramas. His songs often being the main tune for the romantic relationships of the series. On October 31, 2006, he released his own EP, called "Treasure" ( _zh. 珍惜) or "Tell Him I Love Her" ( _zh. 告訴他我愛她) featuring three songs. “Tell Him I Love Her," was a song featured in the epic the drama series "The Young Warriors" based on the legendary Yang family and was also a part of the series' soundtrack.

On May 15, 2008, Hu Ge released his first full length music album, entitled, "Start"( _zh. 出發). "Start" features ten tracks including "Dark Cloud" from the Jin Yong drama adaptation "Legend of the Condor Heroes" starring Hu Ge and the theme song "Poison" (Track 6) for a new crossover work called "Farewell Song". Other featured songs include "Heaven and Earth" (Track 5), "Not Perfect" (Track 3), and "Rumor" (Track 7).

Other Interests

Hu Ge is also interested in photography and does a lot of his own photography, which can be seen in a booklet insert of his album, "Start". He is known to be good with words, writing meaningful and poetic posts, as vouched by his posts on his personal blog. [www.ihuge.net]
