Ernest Barker

Sir Ernest Barker (September 23, 1874 – February 17, 1960) was a British political scientist. He became in 1928 Professor of Political Science at the University of Cambridge, being the first holder of the chair endowed by the Rockefeller Foundation. He received a knighthood in 1944.

From a working-class background in Woodley, Cheshire, he won a scholarship to the University of Oxford. He was a don at Oxford, and spent a brief time at the London School of Economics. He was Principal of King's College London from 1920 to 1927.

He married Olivia Stuart Horner in 1927.
