Judge Pat Morris

Patrick ("Pat") Joseph Morris was born in Needles, California, and is currently the mayor of San Bernardino, California. He currently resides in San Bernardino with his wife Sally Morris. They have two children, Katie Willis, and Jim Morris.

Early life

He spent his early life in San Bernardino County's High Desert, where his father worked for the railroad. He graduated cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and was a member of Kappa Sigma Sigma at the University of Redlands [http://www.ci.san-bernardino.ca.us/depts/mayor/mayors_biography.asp] . He received his law degree from Stanford University School of Law.

Legal career

He was admitted to the State Bar of California on June 5, 1963, and assigned bar number 34312. [http://members.calbar.ca.gov/search/member_detail.aspx?x=34312] He served in the Army Reserve for three years, and then three years as a San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney. Jerry Brown appointed Morris to the San Bernardino County Superior Court in 1976. Political career

In 2005, he took leave from the San Bernardino Superior Court to run for mayor of San Bernardino, California. He won the initial election in November, 2005, but not by the required majority. On February 7 2006, Judge Patrick "Pat" J. Morris won a mayoral run-off against City Attorney James "Jim" Frank Penman in a landslide by 63.68 percent of the vote to 36.55 percent of the vote. He appointed his son, Jim Morris to be his chief of staff. The position is unpaid because San Bernardino's Charter prohibits nepotism.
