Wheelock Whitney, Jr.

Wheelock "Whee" Whitney, Jr. is a Minneapolis philanthropist [ [http://www.rotarympls9.org/ma_friday.asp?DocID=921 Biographical notes retrieved in 2008] ] and politician who attended Phillips Andover with George H.W. He was the 1964 Republican nominee for U.S. Senate from Minnesota, losing to Eugene McCarthy, and he was the Republican nominee for governor of Minnesota in 1982 [ [http://politicalgraveyard.com/bio/whitney.html Listing at Political Graveyard website] ] losing to Rudy Perpich.

He was part-owner and president of the Minnesota Vikings football team for a number of years [ [http://www.rotarympls9.org/ma_friday.asp?DocID=921 'ibid'] ] . Whitney is currently married to Kathleen A. Blatz, the former Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court.
