They have been releasing house records under this name since 1998 and in 2006 they reached number 1 on both the dance chart and indie chart with their track "The Cure & the Cause". The track featured vocals from Tracey Kelliher and was remixed by two soulful house veterans,
Dennis Ferrer andDJ Memê ."The Cure and the Cause" originally missed the UK Top 75 but was re-released later in the year where it finally became a hit in the UK, peaking at 23.
Past & Present
Previous to their release of "Fish Go Deep Vol One", on Eventual Records in 1998, the duo did produce another record called "In Motion" on Red Records as Fishgotech in 1994. Other releases under the name Fishgotech include "Silver" on Red Records.
Current projects for the two producers include a new album due out autumn of this year, as well as the release of Battery Man on the Go Deep label. The new album sees the reunion of Fish Go Deep with
Tracey K , the combination which are to credit for the album Lil' Hand. Final Tide, a track already confirmed to feature on the new album, was included on the cover cd of Hot Press magazine.Background
Both Greg & Shane played an integral part in the emergence of house music in Cork City between the years of 1988 and 2001 as their well renowned "Sweat" night at Sir Henrys helped to attract a host of talent, such as Kerri Chandler, Arnold Jarvis, Laurent Garnier, DJ Deep, Jerome Sydenham, Roger Sanchez, Glenn Underground, Boo Williams, Cajmere, Gemini, Derrick May, Kevin Yost, Migs, Rasoul and Fred Everything to say just a few.
In recent years, Fish Go Deep tracks have been included on dozens of compilations, on labels in the US, Canada, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Ireland, South Africa and Asia.
As well as this, Fish Go Deep, along with fellow Cork Producer Mark O'Sullvian, set up Ork recordings in 2005 with the help of the organising committee for Cork, European Capital of Culture 2005. The label is based in Cork, and
Stockholm , Sweden and thus far has released singles such as "ESL", "Disco" and "Soul V.2", each of which have received critical acclaim from such producers as Jimpster (Free Range Records) and Charles Webster (Miso Records). Ork recordings was primarily setup as an electronic muisc outlet from which new and established artists can promote their work.Greg and Shane present "Go Deep", a weekly House music show on
Red FM (Ireland) (Fridays 9-11pm & Sundays 3-5am) and on [http://www.powerfm.com.tr/| Power FM, Istanbul] (Saturdays 12-2am) . The radio show can be downloaded and listened to in the form of a podcast, which can be subscribed to via iTunes. Each show is also made available in the MP3 format on [http://www.godeepmusic.com/fishgodeep.com/page11/index.html Fish Go Deep's home website] ."Fish Go Deep Radio" is another show that FGD present. It is similar to Go Deep, a House music show, broadcast once monthly on RTE 2FM, Ireland. It usually airs from 12-2am on the first Sunday of each month.
Cork's RedFM 104-106The Duo also used to entertain the Cork public with a "Go Deep" party every Saturday night in Fast Eddies nightclub, Tuckey Street, Cork. A recent statement on Fish Go Deep's official website declared that their residency in Fast Eddies has unfortunately come to an end. Fish Go Deep stated that they will be taking up residency in a club in Dublin sometime in the near future once they finish a tour promoting their new album.
