- Reading Division
The Reading Division is a
rail line owned and operated by theReading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad in theU.S. state ofPennsylvania . The line runs from Reading north and east to Packerton along formerReading Company andCentral Railroad of New Jersey lines. At its south end, it connects to theNorfolk Southern Railway 'sReading Line ; its east end is at the R&N'sLehigh Division and the Norfolk Southern'sLehigh Line .History
The piece from Reading north to Port Clinton was opened by the
Philadelphia and Reading Rail Road in 1842. Reading Company , while from Haucks to Packerton was part of theCentral Railroad of New Jersey . The lines were taken over byConrail in 1976, and theReading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad bought them in 1990.
