Russell Arms

Russell Arms

Russell Arms (born 3 February 1922, Berkeley, California) is an American actor and singer.

He is best-known for his 1957 country music hit single, "Cinco Robles (The Five Oaks)". "Cinco Robles" entered the charts on 12 January 1957 and stayed for fifteen weeks, peaking at #22.

From 1952 to 1957, Arms was best known as a vocalist and host of "Your Hit Parade", a NBC television series that reviewed the popular songs of the day and on which a regular cast of vocalists would perform the top seven songs of the week. Arms is the only one of the lead performers on that show who is still alive.

Arms began his career on radio, moving up to minor screen roles during World War II as a contract player with Warner Brothers and later as a freelance performer, mostly in Westerns.

Since then, he has appeared in numerous supporting roles in both movies and television. He and his wife Mary Lynne reside in Illinois, after spending many years in Palm Springs, California.
