List of Disney princes

Below, the list of Disney princes describes, with biographical details, the princes from Disney's animated movies.

"The Prince"

The character known as "The Prince" is Snow White's love interest in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". While riding near the evil Queen's castle, he hears Snow White singing. He follows her voice, to where she is singing into a well. He starts to sing with her, which scares her and makes her run inside. He continues singing, only this time he's singing a love song to her ("One Song"), not the song she was singing ("I'm Wishing"). "The Prince" doesn't appear again until after Snow White has been poisoned with an apple, by her stepmother, the Queen. He wakes her with a kiss, and they ride off into the sunset to live happily ever after.In earlier drafts of the story, "The Prince" would've played a more active role, rejecting a marriage proposal from the Queen and escaping from her dungeon when she attempts to drown him by flooding it. However, the difficulty in animating him forced the writers to reduce his part significantly.Fact|date=December 2007

Prince Charming

Prince Charming is the prince from the film "Cinderella (1950 film)". Cinderella's fairy godmother makes it possible for her to go to the ball, and the Prince falls in love with her at first sight. They share a romantic dance and then go off by themselves. However, the night must come to an end at midnight, for the magic that made Cinderella's dream come true is over. As Cinderella leaves, her shoe slides off on some stairs. Afraid that if she stops long enough to pick it up, she will be caught and everyone will see the magic wear off, she quickly returns to her carriage. The prince picks up the glass slipper and the next day decrees that whoever can fit the shoe will be his bride. The Prince leaves finding the owner of the glass slipper to his Duke, who returns triumphantly with Cinderella. Cinderella marries her prince, and they live happily ever after.It should be noted that Cinderella's prince is never actually identified in the film as "Prince Charming", nor is there any clear reason why he has come to be known by that title in the Disney vernacular. He is not even described in the script as being particularly charming; that designation went to Snow White's beloved, as illustrated by the line "Anyone could see that the prince was charming, the only one for me."

Prince Phillip

Phillip, the first prince listed here to be given a proper name, is the prince from the film "Sleeping Beauty", and was named after "Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh". At her birth, it was said that Prince Philip would marry Princess Aurora, the daughter of his father's best friend. However, at the Princess' debut to the public, "Maleficent" cursed her, causing the Three Good Fairies to take Aurora into the forest to raise her. However, much like the The Prince in Snow White, Phillip is riding in the forest and hears Aurora, now known as Briar Rose, singing. He follows her voice and starts singing with her. She tries to run away, but he follows her. By the end of the song, they have fallen in love. After being captured by Maleficent after arriving at Briar Rose's home, the Three Good Fairies rescue him so that he in turn can save Aurora. He kisses Aurora and she wakes up. They then go downstairs, arm in arm, and share a dance after Aurora meets their parents.

Prince Eric

Prince Eric is the human that "Princess Ariel" falls in love with in "The Little Mermaid". She saves him from drowning, and falls in love with him. She then sings about being part of his world - "watch and you'll see, someday I'll be part of your world". Eric falls in love with the beautiful girl who saves him, and he searches his entire kingdom for her. He finally finds her, after Ursula turns her into a human and she ends up on the beach near his palace. Eric gives her rooms at the palace and their relationship develops until Ursula appears with Ariel's voice in a shell around her neck. The shell also has an enchantment on it that causes Eric to fall in love with her. Eric almost marries Ursula, disguised as Vanessa, but the shell necklace is shattered. Ariel is finally able to tell Eric she's the one, but her three days are up. She transforms back into a mermaid, and Ursula transforms back into a squid (see below). Ursula dives into the ocean with Ariel, and Eric goes after her. Eric tries to fight Ursula and is knocked unconscious during the fight. Once Ursula is finally defeated, by Eric he gets washed up onto the beach, unconscious while Ariel sits on a rock a little ways from the shore. Her father grants her wish, and turns Ariel back into a human. She emerges from the sea as Eric wakes up, and they run to each other and embrace. They are then married, and they live happily ever after - complete with a baby girl named Melody, who appears in "" along with Eric and Ariel.

The Beast/Prince Adam

The Beast, one of the main characters of "Beauty and the Beast" was originally a prince named Adam. As a young man, he is turned into the hideous Beast by an Enchantress because of his attitude - he is arrogant, self-centered, and spoiled. He is given until he is 21 years old, when the last petal will fall from an enchanted rose, to find someone who loves him and whom he loves in return. As the rose's petals begin to wilt, the prince despairs, fearing he will forever be trapped in the form of a Beast. He finds Maurice in his castle and locks him in a dungeon. Maurice's beautiful and intelligent daughter, "Belle", comes looking for Maurice and begs the Beast to take her instead. He does, and Maurice is sent back to the village. At first, Beast scares Belle, but eventually she gets through to him. He gives her back her freedom, so that she might attend to her father, who they discover is very ill; when asked by Cogsworth why he has done this, the Beast admits his love for her. During the film's climactic rooftop battle, the Beast is given a mortal wound by Gaston, the most handsome man in Belle's village, who is jealous that Belle loves the Beast. Gaston dies, but the Beast shortly thereafter dies as well, and Belle cries over his body and says she loves him just as the last petal falls off the rose. The terms of the spell are met - each has stated that they love the other - and the Beast is restored to life and to his human form. The film ends with what is presumably the celebration of Belle and the Prince's marriage - the closing scene is a stained glass window of them both wearing crowns.

Aladdin/Prince Ali

Aladdin is the main character of "Aladdin". Aladdin is a street rat - an orphaned thief. He daydreams about living in the palace, which he can see perfectly from where he lives with Abu. When Jafar sends the guards to capture him, Princess Jasmine has run away from the palace and is with Aladdin. Aladdin finds out who she really is, but it's too late - he's already fallen in love. In disguise as an old prisoner, Jafar leads Aladdin out of the dungeon and into the desert, where he enters the Cave of Wonders to retrieve a lamp for Jafar. When he tries to leave the cave and asks for Jafar's help, Jafar tries to kill him. Abu, sneaky little monkey that he is, steals the lamp back from Jafar when he bites him, and is then thrown into the Cave of Wonders. The Cave of Wonders disappears back into the sand, with Aladdin and Abu still inside. Jafar realizes the lamp is gone, but can't do anything about it - the one person who could get in is stuck inside. After finding out the lamp is the home of a magic Genie who grants him three wishes, Aladdin wishes to become a prince (named Ali Ababwa) so he can woo the princess. After Jafar is defeated and Aladdin has freed Genie, the Sultan decrees that the Princess may "marry whoever she deems worthy". She runs to Aladdin, and he picks her up around her waist and spins her around as she says "You! I choose you, Aladdin". Although they appear to get married at the end of the first movie, they decide to postpone the wedding so they could see the world and have adventures before settling down to rule a kingdom. They don't get married until "Aladdin and the King of Thieves", in which, ironically, Aladdin is a prince; the Prince of Thieves.

Disney Heroes

Somewhat related to the Disney Princes is a line of action figures sold at Disney Store locations, Disney Heroes. It features different Disney characters with stylized appearances, some of which are quite different from their appearances in their respective films. In addition to the heroes Peter Pan, Hercules, and Prince Phillip, the collection also offers the villains Maleficent (in her Dragon form) and Captain Hook. There is little indication, however, that this will develop into a franchise (such as the successful Disney Princess product line).
