TVB , Gregory River mentioned his reason for learning Cantonese was his association with Hong Kong Cantonese speaking friends during his time at university at the age of 20years old. It was this close friendship which led him to become more interested in the learning the language when he first heard the songs sung by Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing inspiring him to learn the words so he could sing it. At the age of 21years old, he dropped out of university of New South Wales where he was studying a medical degree, which he was on his 2nd year from his final to travel to Hong Kong, citing that he dropped the degree because he had lost interest in it and not because he had any difficulty.Fact|date=April 2008Trivia
