Tim Smith is a fictional character on television show "One Tree Hill". He is portrayed by Brett Claywell.

Character background

Tim, nicknamed "Dim" for his lack of intellect, was Nathan's best friend in the first three seasons.

eason 1

In the first season, Tim was Nathan's best friend and always helped him to bother Lucas and often took the blame for Nathan's mistakes. He is sex-obsessed and always wanting to party. Many affectionately referred to him as "the slut on the hill" for his pornographic fantasies often depicted on the show. He and Nathan grew more and more estranged over the span of the show, since his behavior was pretty much bothering everyone and they felt he was a nuisance.

easons 2-3

In season 2, Tim feels as if he was cheated out of being the best man for Naley's wedding so he throws Nathan a bachelor party and has his cousin hire a stripper. Tim's perverted antics and overactive imagination gets him thrown in jail before the party began. In a later episode, he confronts Nathan about his lack of "Tim time" since he's gotten married. They resume their friendship but nothing significant has happened since.

In season 3, his role was much less important. He still seems to hopelessly cling himself to Nathan after he returned from High Flyers. Tim continues playing basketball and was very upset that no girl wanted him in the fantasy boy draft. In his time capsule entry he pretended to be harassed by girls and to be Brooke's boyfriend. Suddenly, his character is no longer seen or heard from until episode 3x20 where Nathan argues that he deserves to continue playing in the basketball game because he let Tim shower with him.

In season 4, his absence from the show was addressed in passing by his mother, Sherri, and Dan Scott. Apparently, Tim is in a special school for "slower" students.

eason 5

He appears as a pizza delivery boy when Haley, Peyton, Brooke, Mia and Lindsey are trapped in the school library. When Brooke races to hold the door open, Tim mistakes it as her rushing to hug him and subsequently causes them to continue to be trapped. He has a son whom he named Nathan [One Tree Hill episode 5x10 Running to Stand Still] . and is later revealed to be married to Bevin [One Tree Hill episode 5x11 You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side] . A few hours later he reveals that he knew how to open the door all along but didn't because "I miss you guys. No one keeps in touch anymore." [One Tree Hill episode 5x10 Running to Stand Still] .

Trivia

*A running gag for Tim is his homosexual tendencies. He claimed to be straight but his actions said otherwise. Nathan and his friends always underhandedly referred to him as a closeted homosexual.

*Another running gag for Tim is his tendency to use overzealous phrases to make a statement. Nathan would usually scold him by saying, "Tim, just say [...] ".

*In dream sequences of both Haley and Nathan's, Tim appeared to be gay.
