ThePetrůvka River flows through the village and enters theOlza River in Závada.The village lies five kilometers north of the city centre of Karviná, next to the border with
Poland . The villages ofDolní Marklovice , Prstná and Závada are administratively part of Petrovice.The village is the site of the important railway border crossing to Zebrzydowice in Poland and it has also three road border crossings.
