The Sarnia Subdivision is a
railroad line owned by theLake Erie and Detroit River Railway [Canadian Transportation Authority , [http://www.cta-otc.gc.ca/rulings-decisions/decisions/2006/R/602-R-2006_e.html Decision No. 602-R-2006] , APPLICATION by CSX Transportation, Inc. pursuant to paragraph 93(1)(c) of the Canada Transportation Act, S.C., 1996, c. 10, for a variance to Certificate of fitness No. 97004-1 to reflect a change in its Canadian railway operations in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec,October 31 ,2006 ] and operated byCSX Transportation in theCanadian province ofOntario . From its north end, CSX hastrackage rights west over theCanadian National Railway 'sStrathroy Subdivision (through theSt. Clair Tunnel ) and theGrand Trunk Western Railroad 'sFlint Subdivision to the CSXPort Huron Subdivision nearPort Huron, Michigan and theSaginaw Subdivision in Flint.History
The line was built in the 1880s as the
Erie and Huron Railway , linkingLake Erie atRondeau Provincial Park withLake Huron at Sarnia.Fact|date=February 2007 Through leases and mergers, it became part of thePere Marquette Railway ,Chesapeake and Ohio Railway , and CSX. The portion from Lake Erie to Blenheim has been abandoned; in 2006, CSX sold the line between Blenheim and Chatham to theCanadian National Railway , who operates it as theirSarnia Spur .
