After three years of service to Davidson, Campbell was asked to join the
Detroit Pistons of the NBA in 1984. He was hired to oversee all financial aspects of the team and saw his role evolve when the Pistons opened thePalace of Auburn Hills in 1988. Campbell worked closely with the Pistons Basketball staff for more than a decade, reporting to the team president and General Manager on league policy issues such as theNBA Salary Cap and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Campbell joined the
Tampa Bay Lightning in 1999 after the teams' purchase by William Davidson. Davidson appointed Campbell president of the team and president of theSt. Pete Times Forum . He would later be named an alternate Governor and represent the Lightning at the NHL Board of Governor's meetings. Campbell is ultimately responsible for all the day to day aspects of the organization, including sales, marketing, finance, team operation, and arena management, and reports directly to Lightning CEO Tom Wilson and Owner William Davidson. In 2004 along with GMJay Feaster and Head CoachJohn Tortorella , he helped guide the Lightning to theStanley Cup championship.Awards & achievements
