Overview
Troi is the widow of
Ian Andrew Troi and mother ofDeanna Troi . Deanna often feels embarrassed by her mother's exuberant and flashy personality, in addition to belittled by her continuing references to her childhood nickname, "Little one".She serves as the
Betazoid ambassador to the Federation. As a Betazoid, she possesses telepathic abilities. She has visited the USS "Enterprise-D" on several occasions. Her appearances often involve her search for a husband, fixing her sights at various times on aFerengi , adiplomatic minister , an alien scientist forced to die by a mandatory cultural requirement, and CaptainJean-Luc Picard .In the "DS9" episode The Muse, Lwaxana says that she lost her parents, a sister and her husband, but nothing compared to the pain of losing her daughter Kestra, a daughter Deanna had no knowledge of until her mother fell into a coma. She dove into her mother's mind and discovered the cause of the coma was that an alien girl on the ship at the time fell into a small pool, triggering the coma due to the pain she felt at her daughter's death. Kestra died after her puppy ran off and she followed it and fell into a body of water and drowned. Deanna helped her out of the coma and began learning of the sister she never knew.
In addition to Deanna and Kestra, Lwaxana Troi also has a son, born to a Tavnian named Jeyal. She briefly marries Odo in order to void Jeyal's claim to the child.
