Rumi district

Rumi district, formerly Kolkhozobod district or Nohiya-i Kolkhozobod (Ta/PA: Ноҳияи Колхозобод,ناحیۀ کالخازآباد), is a district in Khatlon province, Tajikistan, located south of the provincial capital Kurgan-Tyube (Qurghonteppa) and Vakhsh district. ["Republic of Tajikistan", map showing administrative division as of January 1, 2004, "Tojikkoinot" Cartographic Press, Dushanbe] It was renamed Rumi district on 23 June 2007 in commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the Tajik-Persian poet and philosopher Jaloliddin Rumi and plans were announced to erect a monument to Rumi in the district. Between 1957 and 1991 the district capital was called Kolkhozobod or Kolkhozabad (Russian transliteration). In 1991 it was renamed "imeni Isoeva", [ [http://whp057.narod.ru/tajik-st1.htm District capital names] ru icon] literally "a settlement named after Sirodjiddin Isoev", who had headed the district for more than 28 years during the Soviet era and had been awarded a Hero of Socialist Labor.
