John F. Cherry

John F. Cherry is an Aegean prehistorian and survey archaeologist. He received his PhD from the University of Southampton, where Colin Renfrew was his thesis advisor. He is currently Professor of Classics at the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World at Brown University (where his wife, Susan Alcock is the director); previously he was director of the Interdepartmental Program in Classical Art and Archaeology at the University of Michigan. He currently co-directs the Vorotan Project in Southern Armenia, and has co-directed archaeological surveys of Melos, Northern Keos and the Nemea Valley in southern Greece.
