Staten Island University Hospital

Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) is a major tertiary referral center on Staten Island, in New York City.

SIUH is a three-campus, 785-bed teaching hospital consisting of the following facilities: North Campus, South Campus, and Concord Campus.

Founded in 1861 as the Samuel R. Smith Infirmary, the institution adopted its current name during the 1980s with the merger of Staten Island Hospital (North Campus) and the Richmond Memorial Hospital (South Campus). The Doctor's Hospital of Staten Island in Concord, Staten Island became SIUH's Concord campus in the 1990s, however it is currently closed awaiting renovations.

SIUH maintains an academic affiliation with the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine whose medical students and residents complete a portion of their training at SIUH. SIUH also operates, in conjunction with Wagner College, a Physician Assistant training program. SIUH is part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System.
