Tristar Boys Football Club is an amateur youth football club based in
Derry ,Northern Ireland , currently playing in theDerry and District League . The club was founded in 1974 by former Derry City playerJon Clifford .The club initially began with an Under-11 side, however, the great influx of new members resulted in the club expanding to become one of the biggest junior clubs in the Derry area with a total of 10 teams from 8 year olds upwards competing regularly in various Derry and District youth leagues. The club has also competed successfully in cross-channel competitions both in Britain and further afield, winning a number of competitions in
England andScotland as well as theMellisant International Youth Tournament inRotterdam in1988 . Perhaps the clubs greatest honour came in1982 inLiverpool , when the Tristar Under-14 team won theEurope an5-a-side title beatingEngland in the final, before 7000 spectators atAnfield .The club has produced many Northern Ireland youth internationals, including currentInstitute F.C. playersDavid Ogilby andRyan McIlmoyle and Derry City goalkeeper,Eugene Ferry . The most famous player to pull on a Tristar jersey wasGary Fleming who won almost 30 caps for Northern Ireland whilst playing forNottingham Forest and Manchester City.External links
