The song was released as a single on iTunes on December 19, 2006 alongside "Headstrong", the title track from her debut album. Background

The song was recorded in three versions: the original leak, where she sang at the High School Musical Concerts; the Radio Disney Version, where she completely re-recorded her vocals, in order to sound less suggestive; and the third version, released previously on iTunes as an exclusive version and remains available to download. The first version leaked during "" on early December 2006, the version used in airplay of Radio Disney and was the first version that leaked. The versionused best known as "album version" is being played in the other radios and also in the music video. As "He Said She Said" would be the first single, "Headstrong" would be the second, even being briefly released as a double A-side along with the original version of "He Said She Said", but was cancelled, when "Be Good to Me" was released as the first single in reason of the explict content of "He Said She Said".

Music videos

;First VersionThe first video for "He Said She Said" was filmed on January 25, 2007. In the video, Tisdale is in a high school. She becomes attracted to a male student and does various things to impress him. Tisdale enters a classroom, and starts to daydream. Then the class room turns into a nightclub. She starts having a dance-off with the mean girls from her school, and at the end, dances with the object of her affection. Tisdale has mentioned on a . It has been confirmed by Tisdale her self in a YouTube video [ [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8Jn7fRgIfk youtube.com] ] that video was scrapped. The version of "He Said She Said" used in the first video was the original leak version.

;Second VersionOn June 26, 2007, Tisdale filmed a music video for the song, directed by Scott Speer and choreographed by Robin Antin. The new video is the first part of the DVD "There's Something About Ashley", released in November 2007. In the video, Tisdale and her friends go to a club, where a man (Josh Henderson) notices her. She starts to dance with her friends and looks after the man. Jennifer Tisdale appears in the video. The video became highly popular on Youtube having over 19 million views.

First of all, Ashley Tisdale promoted her song in "" alongside the songs "Headstrong" and "We'll Be Together", reaching U.S and South America. Later, Tisdale performed the song on "ABC's" "Good Morning America" on October 19, "Live with Regis and Kelly" and "TRL" on October 22. Also her song was featured in a V-Cast commercial. On October 23 she also performed the song on "The Early Show".
