Moosejaw.com is an online retailer specializing in outdoor recreation apparel and gear for snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, and camping. It was founded in 1992 by two wilderness guides. Moosejaw is known for its nonsensical marketing called "Moosejaw Madness". Moosejaw.com was named a Top 50 retailer by Internet Retailer (2007)[2], Top 50 retailer by Bizrate (2006), Best of the Web by Forbes magazine[3], and a Top 500 Retailer by Internet Retailer[4]. Moosejaw has been recognized as a leader in online marketing by the New York Times[5], Outside magazine[6], Chain Store Age magazine[7], and on the CBS Evening News in December 2005.

Moosejaw's "nonsensical marketing" approach has created a following among serious outdoor adventurers, high school and college students, snowboarders, surfers, and skateboarders. The idea behind Moosejaw's marketing is that the shopping experience is not just about buying and selling a product. For example, Moosejaw Madness includes "Dating Girl", where Moosejaw customers can email in for dating advice. Moosejaw's hold music for customers who call its toll free number is a 1942 speech by Winston Churchill.

Its major competitors in the U.S. include many other sporting goods retailers.

Moosejaw Mountaineering and Backcountry Travel, Inc. is a growing American retail store. It centers around outdoor gear and apparel. It currently has seven locations: six in Michigan and one in Illinois. According to its website history, the first store opened in 1992 in Keego Harbor, Michigan.
