The river begins in the mountains of
Nemea to the south and are filled with rocks and grasslands with traces of trees, it enters the valley with Nemea and into the mountains of mixed grasslands and forests as well as plenty of mountains, the river enters Corinthia's major plain and within the towns ofStimanika ,Sicyon and near the centre ofKiato , the river enters the forested area whereas its length is wider, the river runs under the GR-8A/E65 (Athens - Corinth - Patras) and east of the main road (seeKiato-Stymfalia Road ) and near the centre of Kiato with the bridge of the old GR-8 and empties into theGulf of Corinth near its beach and port.Places within the river

The mayor of the area and the prefecture in late-
2006 has announced a new dam about 5 to 7 km south ofKiato and south of Velo over the river and will be in the mountain and valley areas or not far from the heart of the prefecture that will reduce flooding in the valley area which has been hampered in recent times. It will become the second largest body of water (lakes, reservoirs) in the prefecture and also the next prefecture in thePeloponnese region and peninsula ever to have reservoirs in its history. The dam's structure will withstand earthquakes and natural disasters including flooding.ee also
