Specialist Computer Centres (SCC) is an information technology services firm, mainly catering for very large companies and public sector bodies. Headquartered in Tyseley, Birmingham, UK, it is Europe's largest privately owned technology company in terms of revenue and is Hewlett-Packard's largest European partner Channel Register article, 15/3/06 [http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2006/03/15/scc_closes_globaldis/] .] . Its main competitors are Computacenter and Morse Group.

Company Structure

SCC sits under the umbrella of Specialist Computer Holdings (SCH), entirely owned by Sir Peter Rigby (founder, chairman and CEO). SCC has a number of sister companies within SCH, including Specialist Computer Recruitment (SCR) [http://www.scr.co.uk/] and two distribution companies: Enhanced Technologies Corporation (ETC) and Interchange. SCC operations are split between the UK and Europe, with Sir Peter's two sons, James Rigby and Steven Rigby, leading the two respective sides of the company. Company History

In 1975, Sir Peter Rigby, founded Specialist Computer Recruitment (SCR). An outsourcing operation, Specialist Computer Services (SCS) opened in 1980, followed by the creation of SCC in 1982. Throughout the 1980s, SCC offices were opened in numerous UK cities, including London and Edinburgh. The 1990s saw the beginning of a new strategy - expansion by acquisition not growth. In 2002, Peter Rigby was knighted for his contribution to IT and business in the Midlands. SCC's SME arm, SCC Exchange was launched in 2004.
