The village is now a well known touristic resort, offering private apparments and agrobusiness. During the winter a ski resort Oščadnica-Veľká Rača is a popular destination.

The municipality lies at an altitude of 474 metres and covers an area of 58.634km². It has a population of about 5,700 people.
