Lynne Franks

Lynne Franks (born 16 April 1948) is a public relations consultant. Franks is a United Kingdom-based commentator on women's issues, sustainability, and consumer lifestyles. She has claimed to be the inspiration for the character Edina Monsoon on the television series "Absolutely Fabulous", having founded her first public relations company at her own kitchen table in 1970 when she was twenty-one. In 1992 she sold her PR firm to focus on using her communication skills to encourage partnership between business and society, created the London event 'What Women Want' in '95 and travelled the world working with multinational corporations, bureaucrats and grassroots organizations to draw attention to the changing position of women in society. Prior to attending the Beijing Women's Conference, she was the chairman of the UK's first women's radio station and has become a spokesperson on women's issues and socially responsible business practices.

She also launched London Fashion week and brought Schwartz watches and designer jeans to the attention of British consumers.
