The Bombie Samba

The Bombie Samba

"The Bombie Samba" is a song and big dance number created especially for the stage musical production of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". It was written by Robert and Richard Sherman in 2002 and premiered at the London Palladium on April 16, 2002. It premiered on Broadway in 2005. In the show it is sung by Baroness Bomburst, Baron Bombhurst and the Vulgarian chorus during the Baron's big birthday bash.

Criticism of the song

*Although the show's new material received generally positive reviews, the "Bombie Samba" suffered some negative criticism. Critics cited the fact that the samba seemed out of place in an eastern block country (Vulgaria) and overall served as a distraction to the plotline. Regardless of this, the song is generally well received by audiences.
