United States Anti-Doping Agency

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), which began operations on October 1, 2000, is a non-governmental agency responsible for implementation of the World Anti-Doping Code in the United States. The World Anti-Doping Code, which lists drugs and methods that are prohibited in sports, was developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) which was established by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1999. The IOC requires that all Olympic sports adopt the World Anti-Doping Code prior to August 13, 2004.

The USADA is funded by a U.S. federal grant and contracts with the USOC and other organizations. [ cite web
