Guinness Book of Records named her the most prolific female director for having directed 42 feature films.Career
Vijaya Nirmala's entry into the film industry was as a child artiste in
Panduranga Mahatmiyam at the age of 11. She became a heroine through the Telugu filmRangula Raatnam . Her debut film in Tamil wasEngaveettu Penn , which was followed by memorable movies likePanama Paasama ,En Annan withMGR ,Gnanaoli withSivaji andUyira Maanama withJaisanker , among others. She met her second husbandSuperstar Krishna onSaakshi (1967), and they would star together in 47 films. She was instrumental in launching her niece the popular actressJayasudha , and alsoVijayashanti on the silver screen. To date, she has acted in over 250 films in the three South Indian languages. Her small screen debut came with Balaji TelefilmsPelli Kanuka . Soon after, she launched her own banner Vijaya Krishna Movies and produced 15 films.
