Frontier School of the Bible is a small Bible college located in La Grange, Wyoming, United States.

History

Frontier School of the Bible opened its doors on September 5, 1967. The co-founders, Rev. Richard LeBar and Rev. Dan Johnson, both graduates of Grand Rapids School of the Bible, created it after believing that they were called to open a strictly a Bible Institute in the state of Wyoming.

Under the leading of God and after considerable prayer, Rev. Dan Johnson and Rev. Richard H. LeBar were burdened to see the opening of a Bible Institute in the state of Wyoming.

In the spring of 1967, the two men traveled to Cheyenne, split registration fees, and incorporated Frontier School of the bible. There were no buildings, no teaching staff, and no students.

Mr. LeBar moved to LaGrange, while Mr. Johnson was already pastoring at the LaGrange Community Church. He was given permission to help at the school.

That summer, the McGills closed the local drug store and graciously rented the facilities to Frontier School just in time for renovation into a small business office and two classrooms. Frontier was off and running its desired purpose - training young people in the Word of God for ministries in pastorates, mission fields, Christian Education, and Bible camps.

The town of LaGrange opened its arms and its heart to students and faculty alike. Residents through the years have given generously in many ways to help the school through some trying years.

Miss Agnes Campbell, a bookkeeper at Grand Rapids (Michigan) School of the Bible and Music, was led to join the staff as an instructor. She moved into the Craton house next door to the present dining hall. It is occupied now by Jean Lynes. Rev. Ray Ranson, now deceased, drove in two days a week from Kiowa Community Church to assist. The staff was complete.

In 1968, Frontier purchased the dining hall as well as the Wendt house across the street. The old telephone building was acquired, along with a housing unit Thaine Firestine was using for storage. This unit was close to Mrs. Wendt's place.

The administration building and former Marietta house was purchased from Bud Talberts in 1969. An exciting transfer took place in 1972 when the Chamberlain house was moved down the hill to its present location to be used as a dormitory first, then as housing for the Lusters.

In 1973 the Davis house was acquired, serving as headquarters for the Thornberrys, Renichs and presently the Gwins. The school purchased what once served as Pete Hower's home from the Lake family in 1975. It is presently occupied by the Tim Downare. Former residents here were the Pat Godsells, and the Lee Williams.

The first major construction took place in 1973, when Frontier erected its chapel facilities with the basement serving as a boys' dormitory for some years. A girls' dorm was erected in 1977, while a new boys' dorm was started in 1980-81 and put into use in 1984-85.

Several mobile units have been prominent in the school's history as well, and played a vital housing role in the early years of Frontier's existence.

The Joe Buckleys left to take a pastorate in December of 1985, and the LeBar's moved into the apartment of what is now known as the Christian Education Building.

Others affiliated with the school in the past were the Larry Campbells, Bill Marriettas and Mark Marshalls.
