Yaqoob Zai (Gandapur)Yaqub Zais are the sub-branch of a
Pashtun tribe ofGandapur living inAfghanistan andPakistan . Yaqub Zais are the descendants of Yaqub, the eldest son ofGandapur . Yaqub though the eldest one, was not the most brilliant of his four sons and hence the whole family ofGandapur was led by Ibrahim Khan the second son. The descendants of Ibrahim Khan are known asIbrahim Zai (sons of Ibrahim). Yaqub Zai are a small segment of the whole tribe of Gandapurs. They have played no worth mentioning role in theGandapur tribe struggle to establish themselves atKulachi ,Dera Ismail Khan in 16th century A.D.The original name of
Gandapur was Tairi Khan. He had four sons and a daughter. The names of the sons and daughter are as follows;
*1. Yaqub Khan (His descendants known as Yaqub Zai)
*2. Ibrahim Khan (His descendants known as Ibrahim Zai)
*3. Hussain Khan (His descendants known as Hussain Zai)
*4. Dre Plaara (His descendants are not known)
*5. Khubai, the daughter ofGandapur . The descendants of her son Kamal are known as Kamal Khel.
