- Leigh Rural District
The
rural district of Leigh was a local government district in the administrative county ofLancashire from 1894 to 1933. rural sanitary district and consisted of thecivil parish es ofAstley ,Culcheth ,Kenyon andLowton . The district was abolished in 1933 under a County Review Order. The parishes of Kenyon, Lowton and part of Culcheth went to theGolborne urban district, Astley went to theTyldesley urban district, and the remainder of Culcheth parish became part of the parish of Croft inWarrington Rural District .Since 1974 the area now forms part of the borough of
Warrington (in the parishes of Croft andCulcheth and Glazebury ), and of theMetropolitan Borough of Wigan .References
