Pat Hanratty is a Canadian
social activist within theNew Brunswick New Democratic Party (NDP), and currently serves as the party's president.Hanratty has run for the NDP in two provincial elections: in 2003 in the riding of
Hampton-Belleisle where he placed third with 17.4% of the vote and in 2006, when the NDP's overall vote and particularly its vote in the Saint John area dropped substantially, Hanratty received 12.8% share of the vote in the new riding ofHampton-Kings which was larger than any other NDP candidate in the Saint John area, and third largest in the province.Hanratty also ran in the 2004 federal election for the federal federal NDP in the riding of
Fundy-Royal , finishing third with 16% of the vote.In November 2006, following the resignation of
Allison Brewer , Hanratty was named interim leader of the provincial NDP, a role he served until the leadership convention whereRoger Duguay was chosen as the new leader.
