- K2 Brass Monkey
The K2 Brass Monkey is a K2 bike that started production in 2000 and stopped in 2002. It was part of K2's "monkey" line, such as; Flyin Monkey, Bumpy Monkey, Disco Monkey and the Funky Monkey, and was designed as a freeride bike for hardcore trail riding with ocassional jumps. It was made in 3 sizes (Small, Medium, and Large) and came only in Matte Brass Color.
They are extremely stiff and light frames from TIG-welded 7005 aluminum. Comes stock with Noleen Mega Air front fork giving it good 4" of travel,which later was replaced with Manitou Black Elite 100 with 3.15"-4.00" adjustable travel. Also it had mixed mountain components such as Cane Creek AL Headset, TruVativ Firex cold forged, 22/32/44 teeth and later RaceFace Prodigy DH 22/32/44 teeth crankset, with TruVativ Hollow Spline bottom bracket replaced by TruVativ Sealex XR-XC, Magura Clara discs brakes and brake levers, Easton EA70 "Monkey Bar" handlebar with Titec Big AL handlebar stem. The bike also featured 9-Speed Shimano Deore XT RapidFire SL shift levers and Shimano Deore LX front/ Deore XT rear derailleurs. For seating it had Titec Vegas Berserker saddle with Titec Knock DH seatpost. It used Vuelta Excalibur Freeride rims in front and rear (replaced by Shimano XT Hubbed WTBs in 2003), which were wearing Geax Blade 26" X 2.25" tires. The weight for that bike was approximately 28-30 lbs depending on size and production year.
