Edward Buxton (conservationist)

Edward North Buxton (1 September 1840 – 9 January 1924) was a British conservationist and politician.

He was the third son of Sir Edward North Buxton, 2nd Baronet (1812–1858), and his wife, Catherine Gurney. Both father and son were called "Edward North Buxton" and both became Members of Parliament. E.N. Buxton was an advocate of the provision of open, accessible land, particularly near cities. He and his brother Thomas [Described by ODNB as "Buxton, Sir (Thomas) Fowell, third baronet (1837–1915), philanthropist, brewer, and colonial governor", not to be confused with his Grandfather, who bore the same name. ] , played a major part in saving Epping Forest, Hainault and Hatfield Forests for public use.
