Tor enclosure

A tor enclosure is a prehistoric monument found in the southwestern part of the United Kingdom. They are large hilltop or hillslope enclosures situated close to natural rock outcrops. They are surrounded by one or more circuits of stone-built walls. They are comparable to the causewayed enclosures found elsewhere in the British Isles and many are of similar Neolithic date although others are form later in prehistory. Examples include Carn Brea in Cornwall, Rough Tor on Bodmin Moor (Cornwall), Stowes Hill and Whittor on Dartmoor.
