composer ,concert pianist , andprofessor .Biography
Yuriy Oliynyk was born in
Ternopil ,Ukraine . He was the son of a Ukrainianlawyer and started studying piano at seven years old. DuringWorld War II , his family was forced to flee from their home toAustria , and laterGermany .In 1950, Yuriy Oliynyk emigrated to the
United States . He received a degree in piano as a Bachelor of Music from theCleveland Institute of Music and a degree inmusicology as a Master of Arts from theCase Western Reserve University .Yuriy Oliynyk has taught music in many places and is currently a teacher of music at the
American River College inSacramento ,California . He is also the president of theUkrainian Heritage Club ofNorthern California .Works
Mr. Oliynyk wrote music for: solo piano, piano and orchestra, solo
bandura , and bandura and orchestra. Together with his wifeOla Herasymenko , Yuriy Oliynyk has performed his works, along with other works of famous classical composers, across the USA andEurope . His music was also performed by other musicians and was recorded onto CD’s.External links
