Carmen Louis "Carm" Cozza (born
June 10 ,1930 ,Parma, Ohio ) was the head football coach atYale University from 1965 to 1996, winning tenIvy League championships. He is a member of theCollege Football Hall of Fame . His lifetime record as head coach at Yale is 179-119-5. Cozza was named UPI New England Coach of the Year four times and Eastern Coach of the Year.Cozza, the son of Italian immigrants, played quarterback at
Miami University under coachesAra Parseghian andWoody Hayes , graduating from Miami in 1952. He also playedbaseball at Miami, and later played for minor league affiliates of theCleveland Indians andChicago White Sox . He became an assistant football coach at Miami from 1956-62 underJohn Pont . When Pont was named head coach at Yale in 1965, Cozza accompanied him there. Cozza was named head coach at Yale in 1965 after Pont accepted the head coaching job atIndiana University .External links
